GSFC Laboratory for Atmospheres, Code 613

Awards
Dave Whiteman (613.1) was selected for a 2008 Robert H. Goddard Award for Science.

Proposals
David Whiteman (613.1) submitted a proposal entitled “Mobile Raman Water Lidar For the Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change” to the steering committee of the WMO-endorsed Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change. The proposal is an application for the Code 613.1 ALVICE lidar system to be admitted to NDACC as a complementary instrument and serve in the role of mobile reference Raman water vapor lidar within the network. Dr. Demetrius Venable of Howard University is a co-I on the proposal.

Education and Outreach
On June 4, Matthew McGill (613.1) gave a “stunningly excellent” presentation to the visiting AMS Fellowship Winners about cloud/aerosol lidar work at Goddard.

News Releases
Ali Tokay (613.1/UMBC) has a web story at NASA web site (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hurricanes/archives/2008/raindrop_size.html). The web story was written by Ms. Gretchen Cook-Anderson, NASA outreach department.
