Overview
Dr. Cavalieri retired as a NASA senior research scientist in April 2009 after working on sea ice algorithm development for satellite microwave radiometers and data analysis for the past 30 years. He continues to work as a part time consultant. His current research activities center on the refinement and validation of sea ice algorithms for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for EOS (AMSR-E) and the development of sea ice climate data records. Dr. Cavalieri served as principal investigator on the EOS Aqua AMSR-E Instrument Science Team and led three NASA sponsored Arctic sea ice field campaigns since 2000.
